Bob's and Chrissie's wedding

At the end of June, we flew to Boston to celebrate Bob's and Chrissie's wedding. Once we got to Boston, we drove another 3 hours to reach Mt. Washington, New Hampshire. It was a beautiful area of the country, with several mountain peaks within a small area (making it ideal for hikers, bikers, etc.). The wedding took place in the fog on top of the mountain (home of the "worst weather in the world"). Most of the guests rode the cog train to the top, while Bob, Chrissie, and a few others actually hiked to the top. The ceremony was performed by one of their friends, and was laidback, yet sweet. During the ceremony, they constructed a cairn, which is a pile of rocks used by hikers so they don't lose their way. Each parent laid a rock down to signify their role in bringing Bob and Chrissie to the place they are today. After the short ceremony, we all paused for pictures, then had to make sure we made it back to the cog on time (if you miss your train, you have to walk down - no joke!).

After the wedding (which took place in the morning), we had a few hours to spare before the big shindig that evening. Micah, Mom, and I decided to have a little fun. We were able to go down a zip line that was across the street from the hotel. We didn't have time to do the full canopy tour they offered, but the zip line was still exhilerating!

Later that evening, we all enjoyed dinner and dancing at the Mt. Washington Resort Hotel (beautiful old hotel pictured below).

On Sunday, we drove back to Boston for a little site-seeing before flying out on Monday. We really enjoyed the Duck Boat tour, where we were driven around Boston's historical sites and went on a cruise down the Charles River, all in the same vehicle (the Duck Boats were replicas of military boats that could transfer men by sea onto the land). We walked through the Boston Commons, had our picture taken in front of "Cheers", saw the famous Swan Boats, and saw the Boston Garden (where the hockey team had just won the Stanley Cup).

It was great for Micah and me to have a little time away, but we definitely missed the girls (who stayed with their Mimi and Granddaddy).
