We had little AM's baby dedication at church on March 7th. We were so glad most of the family could come (BobBob, Mimi, Granddaddy, Nana, PawPaw, and Amy & Jason were able to come - we look forward to seeing Bebe next time). Any time a baby is dedicated at church, I try to listen to the words of the pastor, and recommit to rearing my own children, as well as those around me, in a way that is pleasing to the Lord. Here are the questions our pastor asked us during the dedication:
"On this Sunday morning as you present your child and dedicate your home, you are recognizing the dignity and responsibility of parenthood and of your dependence upon divine help for strength and wisdom to faithfully discharge the duties of parents.
Parents, do you desire earnestly for your child to grow up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord? (We do!)
As parents, do you covenant together to put God first in everything that you do and with His help to bring up your child in the same way that Jesus grew—in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man? (We do!)
To the congregation: Let us now commit ourselves to God the Father who loved us so much that He, Himself, came as a Son to live within a family. We commit and trust in His Son, Jesus Christ, for all our help in striving to fulfill our vows. (We dedicate ourselves.)"
We had hoped that SB would stand up front with us, but as soon as she realized her grandparents were on the second row of the church, she didn't want to have anything to do with us, and ran straight for her grandparents. Oh well, we're so thankful she loves them all so much!
Here are a few pictures from the day:
Pastor Paul got to hold AM for a few seconds before she started to cry and wanted to come back to us.
This is the same dress SB wore for her baby dedication. I was so glad it still fit AM as she is much older than SB when we had her dedicated.
Amy got to stay and spend the night on Sunday evening. She kept the girls for us while we went to our Sunday evening Bible study. This is what we found when we came home (they were watching Cinderella).
I loved reading about AM's dedication...such an important day for the parents! Her pictures are so cute. I wish I knew her even better as she seems to have the sweetest personality!
