Beach Blast!

I'm finally making the time to put up a post about our beach trip. We had a great time with our family at the beach (we were so grateful for our time away, especially since it was the first time in many years that we got to spend an entire week at the beach together!). Usually, we'd go down to the beach for the mornings, feed the girls lunch out on the beach, then head inside for showers and naptime immediately after lunch. After their naps, we'd usually do something fun like go to the park, or out to dinner. Most evenings, we were able to head back to the swimming pool for an hour or so. One rainy day we went to the Fort Fisher Acquarium, and took the girls on a ferry ride to a small town just across the river (we've taken this ferry before, and they're all named after NC universities - this time, we finally got to ride on the Duke Blue Devil!).

We were amazed at how much SB likes the ocean now. It took a little while for her to warm up to the waves, but after a day or so, she would run down to the ocean to get water in the bucket by herself. She really enjoyed sitting in the chairs at the edge of the ocean, and letting the water wash over her. After AM saw SB going down to the ocean, she ran straight after her big sister. She was pretty fearless towards the water, and we had to make sure she didn't run down to the ocean by herself. Their favorite activity, however, had to be playing in the sand. We filled buckets with sand, made sand castles, dug holes, made drip castles with wet sand, buried feet and legs in the sand, found seashells, and on and on.

We hope you enjoy these pictures from our beach trip!

(And check out the new way SB let me do her hair!)
